Who we are

Bro Barry Coffey

Bro. Barry Coffey, born and raised in Newfoundland, Canada, gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized in 1979. He met Sis. Becky in 1983 and they were married in Virginia in 1984. They lived in Newfoundland for only a short time before moving to Ohio to pastor Spoken Word Fellowship Church, a position he held for the next 16 years. He and Sis. Becky have raised four boys, who all are serving the Lord. In 2000, they felt the leading of the Lord to move to Virginia so that Bro. Barry could spend some dedicated time working in overseas missions. In 2005, Bro. Barry was invited to minister at Hickory Bible Tabernacle, in Hickory, NC. From that first meeting, a relationship began and soon the Believers felt the Lord’s leading to choose him to become their pastor. He still has a heart for missions, and with help of the local church has supported many endeavors for the Lord in foreign lands.

Bro. Barry has always emphasized a balanced approach to ministry including teaching on character, family, marriage and reaching beyond the walls of our church helping to spread the Message of the Hour worldwide. Our Church has grown over the past few years, both in numbers and in grace and knowledge, “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

What We Believe

"Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready." Revelation 19:7 Welcome to our website for Hickory Bible Tabernacle, in Hickory, NC. We are a Christian Church, identified by the teachings and standards of the Bible. We have a congregation of many wonderful people from all over the area, including some from around the country. We enjoy the fellowship of Believers in sister churches all over the world and take every possible opportunity to come together to worship the Lord and fellowship one with another. Each year, our church hosts special meetings like the Annual Men’s Meeting, Through the Bible Days for Kids, the Winter Youth Retreat, and several other special meetings and events. We welcome you to visit us during any of our services. We believe in ministering with the Scriptures and presenting Jesus Christ—not only in our teachings and in our services—but , most importantly, in our lives. We believe that all Christians must have a new birth whereby their nature is changed into the very image of Christ Himself. We are living in the last space of time allotted to the Gentiles before Christ’s return. The Bible includes many Scriptures that contain promises about events that will come to pass in the “evening time,” or the last days of the Gentiles. According to the Scriptures, the whole purpose of the Gospel is to produce a clean, spotless, virgin church whom Christ will take to himself as a Bride. The Scriptures refer to this church in comparison to a husband and wife, speaking of marriage as the nearest example of Christ and His church. Salvation comes not by any creed, any amount of knowledge, or any act of service. It comes by faith in Jesus Christ, who was sent to pay a debt of sin no man could pay. It is faith in this Jesus, of whom it is written, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12) Paul said "For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. (2 Corinthians 11:2)." If there is to be any burning desire in the preaching of the Word of God, it is not only to call people unto the saving grace of Jesus Christ, who is the only source of Life. It is to bring God's people to the purifying waters of the Word of God, so they can be washed and led of His Spirit to live a pleasing life, becoming of a wife. How does she make herself ready? She does so by believing and clothing herself with the living Word of God. The objective and spiritual thrust of Hickory Bible Tabernacle is to make known to the world that Malachi 4:5-6; Luke 17:26-30 and Revelation 3:14-20 are being fulfilled in our time. God sent a message through His Prophet/Messenger, Rev. William Branham (1909-1965) that would prepare a Bride for her Bridegroom, our Lord Jesus Christ. This Message is available by way of hundreds of recorded sermons. The congregation of Hickory Bible Tabernacle has committed great resources to taking this message to the world - "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to-day, and for ever." Hebrews 13:8

To him be glory both now and for ever.” II Peter 3:18

Bro. Wayne and Sis. Faye Coffey We have been at Hickory Bible Tabernacle since before Bro Barry became the pastor and at the time there were only about 20-25 people attending the church. Since that time we have been so blessed to see the church not only grow in number, but also spiritually. Our heart is blessed to see so many people receiving the strength they need on this journey toward the rapture.
