The Business of Family
Hickory Bible Tabernacle
“For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: 6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children: 7 That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments…”
PSALM 78:5-7
What does it take to successfully raise a family according to godly principles in today’s world? In a special series of meetings, we want to introduce some special guest speakers who have had relative success in raising families according to Biblical principles.
Bro. Gary Steinke, from Many, LA is a Message Believer and a respected elder within the Body of Christ. He is a an accountant with several of his children working at his firm and they all attend Bro. Tim Pruitt’s church in Homer, LA.
Our purpose on this special weekend is to allow Bro. Gary to share with our brothers the principles he used in raising his family through many different and challenging seasons of life. On Saturday afternoon, we will discuss some of the choices that he made in the early years to establish clear boundaries. And how he maintained the standards of the Word of God in his household. Our goal will be to learn from those who have good experiences in raising families in these “perilous” times.
We will also take some time on Sunday for our whole congregation to listen to the Steinke’s concerning their
perspective on families with useful suggestions for young families.

The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” (II Tim 2:1-2). The Bible clearly gives us an intergenerational responsibility to pass on what we learn through our own experiences, clear Biblical teachings to subsequent generations. This is an aged principle: “Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers? 3 Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation.” (Joel 1:2-3)
